Perfect spare or casual-use set.Nov 05, 2011
By Mr. D. Caudle I am reviewing these sockets from the perspective of using them for light/infrequent use. I keep these sockets inside my motorcycle backpack. They are the perfect thing for emergency or casual repairs, and it is nice to have a cheap set of sockets with me at all times. They are inexpensive enough that I don't care if they get lost or damaged -- I can just buy another set. They are also of relatively good quality, and have decent tolerances. Some inexpensive sockets don't fit quite right and can end up damaging bolts.
That said, they probably wouldn't hold up to a lot of heavy-duty use. I can't see myself beating up on them like I can higher-quality sockets, and I have broken one of them using a breaker bar. Granted, I stood (330lbs) on a 6ft breaker bar, so I can't fault the sockets much for that. The socket in question fractured slightly but did not fail entirely, and I DID loosen my bolt :).
Will definitely buy a replacement set if I need them. Perfect to keep in the trunk/around the house. Great product!
Ok socket set for the priceApr 12, 2012
By I. Hunter Well, these are somewhat cheezy home-owner sockets. Probably fine for the occasional user.
Things I like: (1) they are 6-point sockets which make for stronger sockets than 12-point, (2) they use the Snap-on Flank-drive pattern which may reduce rounding off fasteners, (3) machining and finish are OK, (4) the socket rail they come on is very handy.
Not-so-good things: (1) the machining and finish is not as good as Stanley or Performance Tools which are both pretty inexpensive alternatives, (2) they just have that not-very-strong "look" to them.
In sum: a reasonable low-torque home-owner socket set.
My favorite inexpensive alternative: Performance Tools impact socket set. Right now, Amazon doesn't sell the 3/8"-drive metric set, but here is the 1/2"-drive metric impact set:

The impact sockets will clearly last the average hand tool user a lifetime.
Great valueSep 15, 2011
By Robert K. Mertz These sockets work just fine for everything that I need to do. I also like the bar to keep them organized.
Cheap, but gets the job done... Soft of..Aug 30, 2011
By Chris I was installing a new suspension, I stripped two of the sockets. I had to use my crafts man and that began to get gnarled so I went to the Depot and bought some junker socket and eventually the strut came free. These tools are fine to have, but if you know you're going to have trouble with something requiring (just guessing) 60ft/lbs+ of torque then get a better socket or set. However, for less than $10 these are great. The little holder is nice, a little tough to get the sockets out of but I guess that is a good thing. It is flimsy aluminum or something but it is definitely better than putting them in a pouch.
Good bang for the buckDec 08, 2010
By Charles Hayes Good bang for the buck, but not craftsman quality. A socket failed when attempting to remove a hub mounting bolt that was rusted in place (craftsman socket finished the job). Have worked flawlessly other than that one incident.
