5solid drill bitsJun 07, 2007
By Robert T. Donahue
I am impressed with the quality of these drill bits. Unlike other bits I have used, these have a double flute design and a heavy duty shank for stability. This makes drilling holes with this design bit more precise with smoother cutting.

5Actually, a really decent set of step bitsJun 19, 2010
By M. Armstrong
Note that the largest step bit size in this collection is 3/4" - but don't let that stop you from adding this cheap and effective set to your toolbox. I bought an expensive silver and deming bit set for enlarging holes, which still have their uses at times, but this set is far more effective when going through sheet metal or even plate (I drilled holes in 3/16" and 1/4" mild steel with these bits). They are effective cutters and very efficient. The long / multiple step bit is my most frequently used one as it goes from 1/8" to 1/2", stepping up at a reasonable speed. I'd still drill a pilot hole if going into thicker material though.

Highly recommended!

5Great QualityMar 05, 2009

Since I've gotten these I've used them to punch holes through sheet metal, angle aluminum, plexiglas sheet, and drill out a few old locks. These did much better than normal twist drills. Use some kind of cutting oil (or WD40) when drilling though thick/hard metals to help the bit cut and lengthen its life.

5Awesome tool for cutting clean holes in plasticDec 09, 2010
By Florida Phil
I needed a tool to make clean cut holes in 5 gallon, thick plastic buckets (like old 5 gallon paint or joint compound buckets). I tried EVERYTHING and everything seemed to leave sharp plastic pieces hanging off the inside of the bucket and that's no good. I needed clean holes. I had to cut about 60 holes in each bucket and this tool flew right threw the plastic making a totally clean, perfectly round hole. Now I did use a small straight bit to make starter holes but I also tried pushing this bit straight through on its own. It made it through the plastic just fine on its own but it went faster with the pilot holes. This is a perfect solution to cutting clean holes in plastic. I haven't tried it on anything else yet.

3Neiko 3-piece step drill setOct 09, 2010

A simple solution to changing bits, they do wear rapidly on hard materials, but a good product.
