The product cut the 5/16" silver bike chain, but the cutter has permanent flattened indents for wear. The chain was too harder material than the cutter.obviously. I don't know that any bolt cutter would be differnt. The hardness rating of all cutters should be required by law. The hardness rating is needed, otherwise it is a guess about the product value. The product was relatively inexpensive. It is no doubt great for standard mild steel bolts.
