12" clamp. I measure 3-1/4" between the threaded rod and back beam. Don't really want a "Malleable Steel Frame" which means over stressing it will cause permanent deformation. It seems rather lightly constructed compared to my decades old 8" clamps so I don't expect I'll be able to use a lot of clamping force with it.

I needed large clamps with at least a 9-1/2" jaw for a specific task. These clamps are O.K. by their description but the throat depth is 4-1/2", not 5-1/8". The clamps barely worked for me because of this. I probably still would have bought them if the description were correct (and given the product 5 stars).
