Poor QualityAug 01, 2011
By TPR I got this item for putting in bricks during patio renovation. It broke on the third brick. The rubber mallet separated from the handle. I had to go to a Home Depot to purchase another one (different brand) in order to complete the job. The new one cost less than this one and it didn't come apart.

Helps when I need itFeb 23, 2008

I ordered this mallet to use in my kitchen to make it easier to cut hard-shelled vegetables such as winter squash and sweet potatoes. I wanted something that I could use to hit the back of my knife to give it a little more power to punch through the tough skin, but that wouldn't damage it. A rubber mallet seemed to be just the answer. This one really makes short work of the job, and I'm happy with it.
I would have given it 5 stars, except for when I received it, it had such a terrible odor that I couldn't stand to keep it in the kitchen. I wrote to the vendor, and he told me that the rubber was still curing, and eventually the odor would subside. I set it away in a window, and after several weeks, the smell has mostly dissipated. It still smells a little, but is now bearable. This is the only drawback, and other than that, this mallet was just what I needed.
Inexpensive and useful product, good value, and great customer service from the vendor.

Broke!Mar 22, 2013
By K. Woodall Used it to put in pavers for our driveway, the head started crumbling the first few hits on the pavers. After that it was just a matter of time before the head split in half and came off. All in one it lasted a total of 10 minutes. Can't recommend it at all.

Great mallet for the moneyJul 17, 2012

As weird as it sounds, everyone should have a rubber mallet at their disposal. You never know when you're going to have a need to "nudge" something without damaging it. This is a well constructed tool with just the right heft to do that.
