Note: I was contacted by manufacturer on 11/17/2012 and will post an updated review as soon as the information is corrected on the product description.
These hooks are very substantial and look sturdy. However because the product description was missing crucial information that was included on the packaging I could not use them and had to return them.
I also noticed a mistake in the product description for the size of the hooks.
Missing information

The back of packaging stated that this hook has to be mounted into wood which is no less than 2"x4". The back of the package states that you need to drill a 5/8" pilot hole to install the hooks. None of my joist are this thick, and I was not able to find a spot where I could mount them.
Incorrect product description

Amazon product description (as of 11/15/2012) states: Product Dimensions: 14.8 x 5.2 x 1.2 inches
The hook is 8 inches (long) by 4 inches (wide) by 1/2 inches (thick)
I hope the additional details for the product will save someone the trouble of ordering something different from what they expected.

The product is fine, per se. The dimensions listed on the Amazon page, however, are incorrect. Those are the dimensions for the box the hooks come in... not the hooks. For me, the difference between 14.8" long and the actual 8" long they are was huge.

Most people have sung the praises of these great hooks, I would certainly agree! I paid $5.99 (October 2012) and got 2 day shipping with amazon prime. A fantastic price for item that matches my red Werner ladder perfectly. Install was very easy (make sure you have a 5/16 inch drill bit) and took less than 5 minutes. Purchase now without hesitation, this is a quality product.

Really easy to install, great tip on packaging about using soap as lubricant. These hooks were perfect for hanging my heavy and awkward bike: they are clearly sturdy enough (maybe a bit overkill), and they are the right shape to hold the bike in many different spots.
