Cheap and DecentFeb 10, 2011

I bought this set of tools to take apart an old film camera I had lying around. I chose these tools because of the price. The build quality of the screwdrivers is pretty decent for the price. The only downside is that if you have a screw that is stuck really tight, it is very hard to get enough grip and put a lot of torque on the small screwdriver handles. Overall, I am satisfied with the product, but if I had to buy again, I would've chosen something with a larger handle.

Can't believe these are TEKTON by MIT 2987 Precision Screwdriver Set, 16-pc.an expanded version of the same tools I've had for 40 years. Great for little things like eyeglasses and calculators and for mini-Allen wrench needs. Got one each for my kids and took a third for my mountain house since it became essentially free with Super Saver shipping. Only missed 5 stars because of a reviewed tendency of the shafts to pull loose from the handles (fixes fine with Super glue)and for the small slotted drivers to chip. Caution! If your hand slips you can poke nasty little holes in your fingers with these.

I purchased this set to work on laptops and other electronics and am very pleased. Overall the pieces are well made, and feel solid despite their small size, The set includes phillips and flathead screwdrivers, as well as hexagonal and allen heads. The end caps rotate freely, which allow you to hold the tool in place with one hand while turning with the other, which is very useful. The sizes have been perfect for small laptop screws. The hex and allen head tools also have a hole for using a leverage bar (included in the set) which is awesome. Which brings me to my only gripe, and the reason I didn't give 5 stars: the screw drivers cannot accommodate use of the leverage bar. This is ok most of the time, as you wouldn't want to damage soft screw heads. However, there were a couple of occasions where I wished I could use the bar, as the thin grips can become a problem when trying to loosen even a slightly overtightened screw (need to use a pliers for those). Another thing is that after tackling a few very tough screws, some of the phillips heads are showing signs of wear, which suggests these may not stand up to very intense professional use.

I bought the set about one week ago. I needed something affordable to open up my laptop. Within the first three screws taken off of my laptop, the screwdriver broke. The tip came loose from the main body of the screwdriver. This rendered the tool worthless. I decided to use the next size up for the rest of the screws. After a few more minutes, the second screwdriver tip broke off, just like the first one. After a frustrating half hour of trying to re-glue the tips back onto the bodies, I noticed that the majority of the other screwdrivers and torque drivers were freaking BENT! Out of the 16 pieces, only 3 were straight. Now if you try to use a screwdriver that is bent to one side, it'll probably turn your 5 minutes project into an ordeal. Anyway, I am now back on the market for yet another set of precision screwdrivers.

I was very surprised to see the item that was shipped to me. It is a 100% better than what I thought that it would be. This is a set of Tekton 16 piece screwdriver set in a very well case that holds them in. The case is very well made and I do not think that is will break under normal wear and tear.

The ends are made out of carbonite and they are not going to break. The set includes tool bars for though nuts to open.
