Wouldn't Cut Hot ButterMar 17, 2012
By MajorGeek These strippers are totally worthless! I have been a professional audio/video installer for 30 years and I've always favored these diamond-groove type strippers to all the other types. We have a similar design set at work that we have used for years but I wanted my own. These strippers are extremely dull. I strip a lot of 4-gauge wire and you can't even nick the insulation with these. Our other set has no problems at all. Even thin wire is a pain; you are pretty much stretching the insulation until it tears. I lost my window to return the product because I couldn't find a link to contact the seller (SAS-tools) directly. I recently did find the link, though it's pretty well buried. I will just have to eat it on this one. Fortunately, it wasn't a lot of money. Don't make the same mistake.

Not quite what I thoughtDec 19, 2011
By Roysun I know I didn't pay much, but there aren't any particular gauge choices, just marks that you can use as a reference of your own. I didn't see up close pictures before I bought it.
Extremely no-frillsMar 29, 2012
By Mark T Tomczak This wire cutter / stripper does one thing and does it well enough. I picked it up specifically because it's small enough that I can spin it easily in one hand while working on house wiring, and it does that just fine.
Buyer beware: the "SET TO WIRESIZE" guide has no numeric markings. Stripper is rated for 10-24 gauge AWG; (24-9) = 15 values, but there are 11 divisions on the etched ruler, so your guess is as good as mine what they mean. The locking screw that prevents too much stripping is also simply a philips-or-flat screw backed by a hex-nut, so you'll need additional tools to set the wiresize. Setting is not convenient therefore; I'd recommend this tool for projects mostly involving one size of wire, but it'll be a pain to be constantly resetting for other sizes.
Works great.Oct 30, 2010
By D. Wick These are cheapos, but they do the job very well. I prefer this style to the more expensive ones. These are also great for high school student use.
