Very light-dutyApr 13, 2012
By jk202 We needed some inexpensive mini-clamps for hobby work. Because this is for very occasional use, didn't really want to spend a lot of money to buy four clamps that would mostly sit around unused. These are price-wise what we're looking for, but be warned they are VERY cheaply constructed. A couple of screw parts fell off as we lifted them out of the shipping box! (Fortunately we didn't lose them and screwed them back on.)
You get what you pay for...sometimes you settle for the cheapest route when it's not "mission critical."

TEKTON 39180 6-Inch by 1.5-Inch Ratchet Bar ClampMay 08, 2012
By Will2628 Very pleased with the clamps I purchased. We make small wooden music boxes and they are helpful in gluing and assembly. We will be purchasing more in the near future.
Tekton 6 -inch by 1.5-inch Ratchet bar ClampMay 20, 2013
By Pen Name Sorry to say it did not meet my expectations. It did not hold what I ordered it for. I will give it a try on something else, but at this time I will have to rate it only 2*.
Light duty only.Mar 09, 2013
By Alan Richard Andrysiak I used this clamp for the first time after several months when making repairs to my kitchen cabinets. I was attempting to get a tight seal of a glued joint when the plastic end of the clamp cracked, leaving the clamp useless. I think that this small clamp may have use for the hobbyist, but be wary for any jobs where a tight clamp is needed.
good clamps - if a bit unusualFeb 09, 2013
By wilson Amazon offered these clamps as an add-on item for a few dollars, so I got two. I already have a stash of Jorgensen 4 1/2' micro clamps and Irwin 530062 micro bar clamps. All three are great clamps. What makes this TEKTON different is the unusual clamping mechanism. The "arm" moves rearward (i.e. toward the user) as it opens, which is exactly opposite the way the Irwin and Jorgensen work. Also, TEKTON uses a red thumb release vs. a finger release for the other two brands. I find the TEKTON configuration a bit goofy to use. I presume that they are trying to circumvent some patents. In any case, these clamps work fine for me, even though the design is unusual.
The TEKTON jaw pads are about the same size as the Irwins, and smaller than the Jorgensens. For what it's worth, I prefer the Irwin in terms of overall use, slightly ahead of the Jorgensens, but the Jorgensens offered a significant price advantage when I last purchased clamps. These TEKTONs work fine, too, but I find them awkward to use, because of their retro-dorsal design -I find myself tightening with my thumb rather than fingers. However, I have no problem recommending all 3 of them. They all work well, and the TEKTONs are the least expensive at least at Amazon's "add-on" price.
