Great for the priceMar 19, 2011
By F. Lopez I had bought a Sears socket tool set. It came with hundreds of sockets of various sizes but no case to organize them into. So I needed socket holders. I was originally going to buy the Sears socket holders but they sell 1 holder for about $10 dollars. Which is a rip-off compared to these Tekton sets since you get three holders for half the price of 1 holder at Sears. Another thing about the Sears holders are that they come with a handle on one end. I definitely did not need the handle since I wanted to fit them into my compact tool box.
I've had past experience with some of the Sears socket holders. The socket clips eventually start losing their grip and fall off. Sears is supposedly known for higher grade quality so I figured that these cheaper priced Tekton holders would be even worse but I decided to try them anyways. I was glad I did. Upon inspection when I received them, they are better built than the Sears branded holders. The clips have a rounded bulge at the tip providing a stronger hold unlike the sears clips where they are rectangular in shape. If a Sears clip is removed from its holder and the two clip ends are pressed together, the clip will no longer hold a socket and basically be ruined unless its bent back but even then it will never be the same. This doesn't happen to the Tekton clips because the grip is all in the rounded bulge and not relied upon the expanded open ended side of the clips.
These clips hold great for the smaller type sockets 1/4", 3/8" and even deep sockets. It's a different story for the 1/2 inch sockets. They hold quite well for regular 1/2" sockets but the deep sockets can fall off easily. Not so bad that a little care when holding prevents this unless you put heavy impact type deep sockets. Which honestly, you shouldn't be doing anyways. It's probably possible that these clips will also wear out over time but seems less likely due to their construction. Only time will tell.
Other than that, these are great socket holders for the price and quantity. You get plenty of clips, 16 per holder which is enough to hold a whole row of just about any size sockets. Plus they are sturdy enough to mount to a wall. I just wouldn't mount the 1/2 inch deep sockets to a wall. Everything else should be okay. I would easily recommend these socket holders.
I will try to add some of my own pictures of my toolbox set up.

This is better than the competition, and far cheaper tooApr 09, 2011

The TEKTON by MIT 1885 1/4-Inch, 3/8-Inch, 1/2-Inch Drive Socket Holder Set, 3-pcat is less than $6 currently and runs about 60% cheaper than a competitive product I list below (at the time of this review). I recently purchased both thinking there must be something wrong with the Tekton at such a low price. Well I was pleasantly surprised. The competitor at over $16 on Amazon was the KD 2533 socket holder. At first I thought they were manufactured together but labeled differently as they look identical. What I found was a slightly easier ability to insert and remove sockets on the Tekton, and was able to move the sockets once installed where the KD seemed to lock the sockets on the strip once they are installed. In addition, like I said above, it's much more reasonable than the cost of the KD. End result, I like the Tekton better even if they had cost the same.

Decent for the priceJan 29, 2012
By Learned Hand It seems that every Tekton product I buy leaves me wanting more. They do the job they are designed to do but are flawed in some way or are just lacking that spark. These socket holders are no exception. They do the job - but that's it.
The 1/2 drive holder's flaw is that it really wont hold heavy sockets. So anything above a 27mm socket just kind of falls out.
The 1/4 drive holder's flaw is that there aren't enough holders. I could basically fill every slot and have 60% of actual space left. They should have included more holders.
I actually don't have any issues with the 3/8 drive holder which was surprising.
This set would be nicer if it had handles as well but in the end you get what you pay for. These rails are priced very well but for a reason. In the end they will the job done so long as your sockets don't weigh too much or if you don't have too many 1/4 sockets. I'd give it a 3/5 stars.

Quality is okay for the product, but the long length may be a hassle in drawers of a smallish tool box.
